Last week, I hosted my first portfolio day for six other photographers, myself and four models at the stunning Delapre Abbey. The idea behind this was to offer photographers a chance to move between groups and capture the models in different areas of the surroundings to add to their websites, social media and advertising.
Emma, Demi, Jake and Steve made amazing models and it was a pleasure to work with them. We spent the day laughing, chatting and all where so at ease with each other very quickly.
After quick intros in the morning and a tour of the grounds by the legend Ken, we got cracking on prep shots. The bridal suites have been a recent edition to the venue and they did not disappoint.
Before lunch, we head outside and took advantage of the dry weather before the rain hit. Perfect timing!
The gardens are the stunning throughout the year and maintained by a great group of people including volunteers. The secret entrance is one of my go to spots for pictures and such a great gem. The group really enjoyed being outside. It's a shame we couldn't get back out, the weather kept changing is mind and we didn't want to risk getting soaked through. I'll be adding more from this session to my projects page- check it out!
After lunch we took to the stunning indoors and got to take pictures in the library and beautiful staircase. The volunteers where great to chat to and so helpful.
I plan on extending these out to new locations and offering up different styles with the opportunity for all to attend. These sessions are not designed for training but a chance for photographers to capture new images and also experiment with styles knowing that it won't impact a wedding or event. You also get to network with fantastic people and share your experiences that may help a fellow photographer.
If you are interested in coming along to a future session, then get in touch. The next one will look set to happen in July with another one in October. Mini shoots will also be available for anyone who would like to get involved.
