Plan. Prep. Photograph.

In early December, I finally shot my first styled wedding shoot at 185 Watling Street in Towcester. A spectacular venue with so much I could do there! But with just four hours to cover everything, I had to make each shot count.

Emma and Charlie where my models for the day and they did a fantastic job! Both taking direction so well with their ideas flowing by 11am. My mum came to help out (and keep everyone chatting between shots) and the wonderful Liz over at Miss Lillies Florist supplied a beautiful bouquet and button hole; I recommend their great work and look forward to working with them again.

This is something that I had been thinking for a long time to showcase the type of shots that can be grabbed during a wedding.

I've also been asked by clients in the past about getting ring pictures, the wedding dress hung up and other small details; I'll be doing a separate blog on the shot lists and at what stage you tend to see them over the day.

Time is always a restriction during a wedding, but with the right amount of planning on both sides some amazing moments will be captured.

With all shoots, it's key to plan and prep for each one. At times it becomes impossible to get certain shots due to a number of scenarios that crop. One of the big ones is running out of time.

I often get asked what to expect from the time frame available so have pulled together some details to give you a rough idea of what can be covered. Depending on time available things can change and photographers will try their best to cover as much as they can. However, there can be additional costs if they are unexpectedly asked to stay for longer than originally planned. Double check your contracts to make sure you are prepared for possible additional charges; it may be best to amend your booking before the big day

  • 1-3hrs: ceremony and group shots

  • 3-4hrs: ceremony, group shots and the couple

  • 4-6hrs: ceremony, group shops, the couple, wedding breakfast and possibly speeches (depending on timings)

  • 6-10hrs: Prep before, ceremony, group shots, the couple, wedding breakfast, speeches, first dance and cake cutting

If you would like to know more about planning for your day or would like to book in a catch up then get in touch today; let's grab a cuppa and chat.
